Hey there. My name is Matt Randall and I'm a certified nutrition coach. I've been in health and fitness for over 40 years and truly enjoy working with people of all ages, abilities, and conditions to improve their lives through healthier eating habits. It's not hard to make a few simple changes that can have big results. A little background on me so you might feel more comfortable starting a conversation...
I was not an athletic child and never into fitness or sports until I started martial arts training at 16. I got into it with the hope that I would stop being bullied because I was the textbook definition of the 90pound weakling and bookworm, an easy target. It worked and I wasn't bullied any longer, but most importantly it started me on the road to focussing on health and fitness.
As a teen, I worked in the local pharmacy. It was there that I got to see and learn about the medications that people were taking. I noticed that it would start with one and then, in a short period of time, their list of meds grew and never reduced. The problems didn't go away, they just needed more and more meds to control them. When I looked at why this was happening, it was painfully obvious that most of their issues came from poor diet and fitness habits. The habits didn't change, they just covered poor choices, with more meds, and continued unhealthy habits, until the end of their lives, which seemed way too young for most and not an enjoyable existence. I knew that this was the expected path for 90% of Americans and certainly not the path I wanted.
There is a big difference between studying medicine and studying health. In America, we don't have a healthcare system, we have a disease management system. I chose to study health for the past 40 years and as a result, in 2024 I turn 59, I'm in great shape, although not exactly a Greek God physique, but I have no health complaints and don't take any medication. I'm still physically active, enjoying lots of vacations, outdoor activities, and getting to the gym almost every day. This is highly unusual for any American my age.
Can I promise you the same results? No, but I can tell you that making a few simple changes to your eating habits, can help you live a better and happier life. Many of my clients have been able to reduce or eliminate some of their medications. Most lose weight. Most will say they have more energy and feel younger.
